Proudly a Top 50 Great British Employer of Veterans
Northrop Grumman UK holds a Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and is named in the top 50 Great British Employers of Veterans.
This recognises our continued commitment to supporting veterans and the wider service community under the UK Armed Forces Covenant.
Our programmers, engineers, data scientists, manufacturers, project managers and more work together across our specialist sites in the UK to develop and deploy pioneering, next-generation technologies. Together, we are transforming the defence and national security capabilities for the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, British Army and wider UK Government. Our work is critical to the future safety and prosperity of the UK.
Our mission focus at Northrop Grumman allows veterans to contribute and integrate from the moment they join our team, continuing to engage in defence and security while moving into their second career. Helping veterans and service personnel continue in defence roles is important to National Security.
We value your experience.
"Diversity of experiences, thought leadership, problem solving, teamwork and resilience are all transferable skills that Northrop Grumman sees evident in veterans. We are so proud of our Silver Defence Employer Recognition Award and to be recognised in the top 100 Great British Employers of Veterans. There are veterans in key roles across our whole business so we would really encourage service leavers to consider a career at Northrop Grumman." - Sophie Ball, Head of UK Talent
Recruitment of Veterans
Globally approximately 20 percent of Northrop Grumman’s 95,000 employees are veterans including more than 1,600 reservists. More than 50 veterans are employed by Northrop Grumman UK and we have partnerships with numerous organisations that specifically support service leavers with their job search or upskilling.
Northrop Grumman holds informal discussions regarding service leaver candidates’ experience, potential and suitable roles they could be matched to with support, instead of the traditional recruitment route which can overlook critical transferable skills.
We work with a range of partners including Centrum Solutions, Optilearn, and Tech Returners to recruit and support service leavers in building a fantastic second career at Northrop Grumman UK.
We proudly became the first UK partners of WithYouWithMe which provides a framework for neurodiverse, ex-military and military spouses to learn new skills on the job.
Navigators: Support for Service Leavers
Navigators is Northrop Grumman UK’s buddy initiative designed to support new starters who are service leavers by connecting them with fellow veterans and reservists, aiding their transition as they join our business.
Navigators has been designed to propagate camaraderie from those who have been through shared experiences in the services. Experienced veteran employees are matched with new employees to support them through their first few days, weeks and months at Northrop Grumman UK.
Why Northrop Grumman?
Support for Veterans
Veterans, Employees and Reservists Inspired to Act and Serve (VERITAS) is an employee resource group (ERG) committed to recognising and supporting the Armed Forces community in the US. We are extending this ERG to the UK to offer further support to our veteran employees.
Flexible Working
Hybrid and remote working options are available from day one at Northrop Grumman. Employees can apply for a compressed fortnight working pattern, which just under 60% of employees have already moved to giving them every other Friday off.
We provide reservists with up to ten days of special paid leave to attend training as well as protected benefits during deployment.
